Woman dies of bird flu in Shenzhen

HONG KONG • A woman, 26, has died in Shenzhen, China, after being infected with the H5N6 bird flu virus, days after she was admitted to hospital, Hong Kong's Health Department said yesterday. She died last week.

MAS lifts Europe baggage limits

KUALA LUMPUR • Malaysia Airlines yesterday said the temporary limits it imposed on checked-in baggage for European flights have been lifted, less than 24 hours after the unprecedented announcement attracted criticism on the Internet.

In announcing the limits on Tuesday, it said unusually intense headwinds were jeopardising planes' ability to reach cities in Europe even with a full load of fuel.

UN appeal on 82 missing Thais

GENEVA • The UN human rights chief urged the Thai government yesterday to do more to determine the fates of 82 people listed as having "disappeared", including a human rights lawyer missing for 12 years.

Mr Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said their families have the right to know the truth.
