New Delhi's air pollution at hazardous levels

NEW DELHI • Air pollution soared in New Delhi yesterday to hazardous levels rarely seen outside winter, as sand blown in from deserts enveloped the capital in a once-in-a-decade phenomenon.

Doctors warned that it posed serious health risks to the city of 20 million.

Taiwan charges trio from pro-China party

TAIPEI • Taiwan prosecutors indicted the spokesman for the pro-China New Party and two other party members for allegedly seeking to recruit Taiwanese military officers on behalf of China and violating the National Security Act.

Prosecutors said the trio also sought to recruit government officials and students into their network.
