Helicopters for public transport in Jakarta

JAKARTA • From next year, the public will be able to use helicopters as a mode of public transportation to travel around Greater Jakarta and to Bandung in West Java.

The helicopter service will be provided by state-owned Indonesian airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II in partnership with air charter operator PT Whitesky Aviation.

Indian soldier, 3 rebels die in Kashmir gunfight

SRINAGAR (Kashmir) • An Indian soldier and three rebels died in a shoot-out early yesterday along the de facto India-Pakistan border that divides disputed Kashmir, the Indian army said.

Armed encounters between rebels fighting against Indian rule of Kashmir and soldiers have become more frequent since last July, when security forces killed a popular rebel commander.
