China to make film on South China Sea ecology

HAIKOU • Chinese documentary makers are set to make a film on the marine ecology of the disputed South China Sea, tentatively titled Beautiful South China Sea, My Home, a source said.

The documentary will be made by volunteers and production will begin in February, said Mr Yao Hongzhao, head of the Hainan Shellfish and Coral Protection Association at a press conference at the second China (Hainan) International Marine Tourism Fair last Saturday.

Najib to attend meeting on plight of Rohingyas

KUALA LUMPUR • Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will attend a major gathering next week to express Malaysia's concern over the plight of the Rohingyas, the Muslim minority in Myanmar.

The gathering will also be attended by other leaders, including the opposition Parti Islam SeMalaysia's president Abdul Hadi Awang, Bernama news agency reported last Saturday, citing Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He urged leaders from other opposition parties to also attend the gathering, added Bernama.
