Schooling, 21, is resuming his training and studies at the University of Texas in Austin after winning a gold medal in the 100m fly at the Olympic Games.

Ms Shomaker, who is taking a doctorate in law at the University of Texas, has been linked with Schooling since last year.

Following his Olympic upset over the world's best fly swimmers like American legend Michael Phelps, she has come under the spotlight as various media reports featuring their photos on social media have surfaced.

Schooling, however, has not officially confirmed their relationship.

Miss Shomaker is a sportswoman herself, winning a bronze medal in 2010 at the Junior Olympics for volleyball.

She was also a lifeguard at the University of Texas swimming pool, said the Daily Texan.

Meanwhile, Chelsea star Eden Hazard has congratulated Schooling on winning his Olympic gold medal.

Schooling himself excitedly posted an Instagram video of the Belgian midfield wizard saying: "Hi Joseph, Congratulations for your gold medal. Keep working hard my friend, we believe in you. Bye bye.

Schooling wrote his reaction to the video: "That moment when @hazardeden_10 congratulates you on winning gold. Thanks @chelseafc!".

Schooling is an avid Chelsea fan, and he hashtagged the post #lifegoals and #ktbffh - an acronym for the Chelsea football club motto "keep the blue flag flying high".

Eden Hazard played for Belgium recently in Euro 2016, where they reached the quarter-finals and he was the 2015 Player of the Year in England after his Premier League-winning exploits with Chelsea then.

Earlier this week, many celebrities, including swimming great Michael Phelps, football star Fandi Ahmad, and Singapore actress Zoe Tay had also congratulated Schooling on his feat.
