Twitter Inc announced on Thursday (Oct 27) that it would discontinue the video-sharing mobile app Vine.

However, the Vine website would stay live even after the mobile app is discontinued, giving users the chance to download and save any videos.

Twitter introduced Vine in January 2013 as a way for users to share small snippets of video that were six seconds or less. The service was popular with members of the microblogging site and spawned several users who attracted millions of followers.

Here are some of the biggest Vine stars.

1. King Bach (16.2 million followers)

The undisputed king of six-second comedy, as the numbers show. Andrew Bachelor was an aspiring actor who first started posting videos on YouTube before using Vine.

In his clips, King Bach makes jokes about a multitude of topics - from relationships to robberies to having his face blocked in a group photo. He has produced segments with brands such as Universal Pictures and Disney on his account.

He has come a long way since uploading short films on YouTube, as he makes the transition to the big-screen. He will be appearing in horror comedy The Babysitter and is currently filming indie comedy Where's the Money with Terry Crews and Josh Brener. He has also been seen on TV in Showtime's House of Lies and Fox's The Mindy Project, among others.

The family, who are also Canadian like Mendes, is probably the most beloved on the Internet with their whacky antics. They are known for their family-friendly skits and parodies.

For safety reasons, the family do not use their real names for privacy issues. Instead, the parents go by Papa and Mama Bee, the son by Mr Monkey and the daughter by Miss Monkey.

The family has secured a number of endorsement deals, including a recent digital campaign for GlaxoSmithKline.

4. Lele Pons (11.4m followers)
