Trump committed to Europe: Pence

BRUSSELS • US Vice-President Mike Pence sought to reassure nervous Europeans yesterday of President Donald Trump's strong commitment to transatlantic ties as he met EU chiefs amid protests.

He said Washington's support remained "steadfast and enduring".

"Today, it is my privilege on behalf of President Trump to express the strong commitment of the United States to continued cooperation and partnership with the European Union," he said after talks with EU President Donald Tusk.

Megaupload founder can be sent to US

WELLINGTON • New Zealand's High Court ruled yesterday that Kim Dotcom was eligible for extradition to the United States over online-piracy allegations linked to his now-defunct Megaupload Web empire.

But defence lawyers immediately vowed to challenge the decision and maintain the long-running battle to stop Dotcom being sent for trial in the US.
