Harley bike recall over brakes fear

CHICAGO • US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson is voluntarily recalling more than 251,000 motorcycles because the brakes might fail, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

The recall covers CVO Touring and VSRC bikes equipped with anti-lock brakes, with model years from 2008 to 2011. Harley-Davidson Singapore said it was unable to confirm how many owners here are affected, but the dealership will contact those who are.

Married Australian DPM's lover pregnant

SYDNEY • An affair between Australia's married deputy prime minister and a younger member of his staff, who is now pregnant, gripped the country yesterday.

Mr Barnaby Joyce, 50, leader of the National Party which rules in a coalition with the Liberals, admitted on national TV that his marriage had broken down after Sydney's Daily Telegraph splashed a picture of his 33-year-old pregnant lover on its front page on Wednesday.

Venezuela vote set for April 22

CARACAS • Venezuela's electoral council has set April 22 as the date for a controversial presidential election, which the opposition accuses President Nicolas Maduro of using to engineer a second term for himself.

The opposition is barred from fielding a candidate and several top critics have been banned ahead of the snap vote.
