ATLANTA • A man accused of wanting a child-free life was found guilty on Monday of murdering his toddler son in June 2014 by leaving him in a sweltering car to die.

Justin Ross Harris, 35, could be sent to life in prison for the death of 22-month-old Cooper, who was left strapped in his car seat for seven hours outside his father's suburban Atlanta workplace.

Morsi's death sentence overturned

CAIRO • An Egyptian appeals court has overturned a death sentence handed down against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in one of several trials since his 2013 overthrow, according to a judicial official. The Court of Cassation ordered that Morsi be retried on the charges of taking part in prison breaks and violence against policemen during the 2011 uprising which toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak.

Airliner swerves to avoid flying object

MONTREAL • A Canadian airliner with 54 passengers on board had to swerve to avoid an unmanned flying object while landing at Toronto, slightly injuring two cabin crew.

The Porter Airlines Bombardier Q400 pilots saw an unmanned aerial vehicle on Monday that they at first thought was a weather balloon. But the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said it was most likely a drone.
