'Disgruntled' worker kills four, then himself

ORLANDO (United States) • A gunman shot dead four people yesterday at a business near Orlando, Florida, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The shooter - a former "disgruntled employee" who was fired in April - then killed himself, said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, according to the Orlando Sentinel report.

Four people died at the scene and one died in hospital , the sheriff's office said on its Twitter feed.


Hostage-taker shot dead by police

SYDNEY • Police yesterday shot dead a gunman who had taken a woman hostage before shooting and injuring three officers.

The fatality ended an hour-long standoff at a Melbourne apartment building, where a second man had earlier been found dead from a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating a telephone call to a television station saying the incident was related to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
