Rescued Russian pilot says no warning before jet downed

The surviving crew member of a Russian warplane shot down by Turkey said on Wednesday the plane received no warnings from the Turkish Air Force and did not fly over Turkish air space, Russian news agencies reported.

Meanwhile, the Turkish military released what it said was an audio recording of a warning to the jet before it was shot down.

"This is Turkish Air Force speaking on guard. You are approaching Turkish airspace. Change your heading south immediately," a voice in one of the recordings can be heard saying in English, repeating the message several times.

Obama jokes about presidential race at turkey pardoning

Speaking at his annual Thanksgiving turkey pardoning on Wednesday, President Barack Obama joked about raising teenage daughters, his critics and the 2016 presidential race.

"As you may have heard, for months, there has been a fierce competition between a bunch of turkeys trying to win their way into the White House," Obama said.

Obama pardoned two California-raised turkeys, named "Honest"and "Abe," who will retire to a historic farm in Leesburg, Virginia, rather than end up on Americans' Thanksgiving tables.

Texas toddler dies after siblings put her in oven

A toddler left alone with her pre-school siblings in their Texas home suffered fatal burns after they put her in the oven and switched it on, US media reported.

J'Zyra Thompson, 19 months, was left unsupervised along with her three-year-old twin siblings in the Houston apartment. A five-year-old was also present.

Court records obtained by ABC-13 News in Houston said the twins told child protective services that one of them put their little sister in the oven and the other one made it "hot."

A girl aged eight is thought to be the youngest person ever to be affected by breast cancer.

Chrissy Turner, from Utah state in the US, discovered a lump on her chest in October and now needs a mastectomy to stop the disease returning.
