Suu Kyi to address crisis in Rakhine

Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi will address the crisis engulfing Rakhine state today in her first speech since scores were killed in violence that has sent around 410,000 Rohingya Muslims fleeing to Bangladesh since Aug 25.

The plight of the Rohingya, a Muslim minority who are reviled and denied citizenship in Myanmar, has roused emotion across the Islamic world, with protests held in Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.


Ways to protect, spur creative design

What kind of intellectual protection should creative design get? Countries around the world are pondering various models to protect and encourage creative design that many believe to be central to economic and industrial growth. The topic will be discussed at a conference today organised by the EW Barker Centre for Law & Business at the National University of Singapore.
