May to meet Merkel in Berlin

British Prime Minister Theresa May will travel to Berlin today for talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The German leader earlier this week signalled a readiness to discuss the parameters of the free movement of people in the European Union, suggesting there may be some room for manoeuvre on the issue in talks on Britain's exit from the EU.


ChildAid charity concert kicks off

The 12th annual ChildAid charity concert opens tonight at Resorts World Sentosa, with 170 young talents helping to raise funds for less fortunate children and young people.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam will be the guest of honour. The two-night concert, organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, is in support of two charities - The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.


Road map to boost food manufacturing

Senior Minister of State Sim Ann will launch the Food Manufacturing Industry Transformation Map today, as the government initiative to draw up 23 industry-specific road maps gathers steam. On Wednesday, the Logistics Industry Transformation Map aimed at reinforcing Singapore's position as a global logistics hub was launched by Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S. Iswaran.
