First Merkel-Trump meeting

German Chancellor Angela Merkel travels to the United States today for talks with President Donald Trump. It will be the first meeting between Europe's most powerful leader and Mr Trump, who has criticised Germany over a range of issues, including Dr Merkel's liberal refugee stance. According to administration officials, Mr Trump is keen to hear Dr Merkel's views on what it is like to deal with the Russians and how to resolve the Ukraine conflict.


Founders' Memorial showcase

The Founders' Memorial Public Showcase, "Remembering our founders - the making of a memorial", will be launched today, presenting highlights from previous engagement sessions and seeking to engage more Singaporeans on their views on the Founders' Memorial. It will be held at the Waterview Room at Gardens by the Bay.


US to release job market data

The United States will release its Labour Market Conditions Index for February tonight, after having announced steady jobs growth last Friday.

The index is a broader look at conditions within the employment market, beyond job growth or shrinkage, and is used by the Federal Reserve to determine the overall health of US jobs.
