Deadline - again - for Iran nuke pact

A new deadline for a nuclear agreement with Iran looms today as ministers of six major powers and the Islamic republic continue with marathon negotiations in Vienna to end a 13-year stand-off. Negotiators are seeking to curtail Teheran's ability to develop nuclear weapons in exchange for relief from painful sanctions. Three previous deadlines in this round of talks - June 30, July 7 and July 9 - have already been missed.


Tenders for affordable hawker fare

Social enterprise NTUC Foodfare will invite hawkers to tender for stalls in the new Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre and Market, due to open by the end of the year.

The social enterprise will help hawkers to keep costs low, and their fare affordable. All 28 food stalls are expected to offer at least two low-cost main dishes. People on public assistance schemes will be able to have an economy-rice meal for just $1.50.


Arsenal, Everton arrive today

English FA Cup champions Arsenal and fellow Premier League club Everton make their highly anticipated arrivals in Singapore this evening.

The two sides, who each command a decent following here, will be participating in this week's Barclays Asia Trophy, along with another EPL team, Stoke City, and a Singapore Selection.
