US officials meeting Mexican leader

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary for Homeland Security John Kelly will meet Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto today, with the two countries' relations at their most strained in years.

The US State Department said in a statement that the officials will discuss "border security, law enforcement cooperation and trade, among other issues".


Public forum on Budget measures

A public forum will be held this evening to engage Singaporeans on their views on the recently announced Budget measures.

Organised by government feedback arm Reach, the post-Budget forum is part of a series of dialogues on the topic.

It will be chaired by Senior Minister of State for Finance and Law Indranee Rajah and Reach chairman Sam Tan.


Release of inflation data today

Singapore's inflation turned positive in December for the first time in more than two years, with the consumer price index inching up 0.2 per cent year-on-year. This was seen as a tentative sign that prices are on track to climb at a faster pace this year. Economists are, therefore, hoping to see another positive reading for last month, when inflation numbers are released today.
