Paris attack suspect on trial in Belgium

Salah Abdeslam, the sole surviving suspect in terrorist attacks which killed 130 people in Paris in 2015, goes on trial in Belgium today, charged over a later shoot-out with Brussels police. Abdeslam, 28, a French citizen born and raised in the Belgian capital, is accused of "attempted murder in a terrorist context" over the Brussels shoot-out in March 2016, four months after he fled Paris on the night of the carnage.


Ruling on Samsung heir's appeal

South Korea's appeals court will today deliver its ruling on Samsung vice-chairman Lee Jae Yong's corruption conviction and jail sentence.

Prosecutors are asking the court to extend Samsung heir apparent Lee's prison term to 12 years in an appeal on his five-year jail sentence for allegedly bribing his way to greater control of the country's biggest company.


Govt's stand on City Harvest ruling

Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam will give the Government's position on the City Harvest court ruling in Parliament today. The statement comes after a Court of Appeal decision to uphold shorter jail terms for the six from City Harvest Church for misusing millions of dollars in church funds.

Other issues to be discussed in Parliament include the flash floods in many parts of Singapore last month.
