Delhi gang rape: Plea against release

India's Supreme Court will hear a plea today against the release of a teenager involved in the horrific gang rape of a physiotherapist in New Delhi in 2012, which led to her death. The court refused to stay the convict's release yesterday after he served a three-year sentence. The Delhi Commission for Women had sought the court's intervention against the release, arguing that the perpetrator was unremorseful and still posed a grave threat to society.


Tackling checkpoint congestion

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will be addressing the issues and challenges in running the two land checkpoints during this year-end holiday period. Last week, heavy congestion for both vehicles and pedestrians was reported.


Investors watching how market moves

Local investors will be keeping close tabs on the stock market today, following a sharp decline on Wall Street.

US stocks closed lower last Friday for the second straight day, on concerns ranging from a further weakening of crude oil prices to the prospect of higher interest rates globally in the wake of the US Federal Reserve's rate hike last Wednesday.
