NEW YORK (REUTERS) - US President-elect Donald Trump spoke on Monday (Dec 12) with a variety of prospective members of his new administration as well as Republican lawmakers as he prepares to take office Jan 20.
Trump is still deciding on several key cabinet nominees. During the day, he met with former Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Rick Santorum, as well as former AIG chief Hank Greenberg, who is currently fighting allegations that he and another company officer engaged in fraudulent transactions that misled investors.
Trump on Monday renewed his doubts about US intelligence reports that Russia intervened in the presidential election by targeting his rival. After meeting with Trump, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise said an investigation into the allegations would be good, as long as it included an examination of potential hacking by other countries.
Trump also met with US Senator Joe Manchin and Idaho Representative Raul Labrador.
In two posts on Twitter Trump also suggested that politics played a role in the news reports on the Russian hacking that emerged late last week.
