MIAMI (AFP) - A man was hit by a train and killed in central Florida as he jogged with earbuds on, police said Tuesday.

The train's driver sounded his horn several times before hitting Eduardo Salazar, 26, Monday as he ran alongside the train tracks in Frostproof, Florida, Polk County police said.

Salazar had his iPod earbuds plugged in and gave no sign of having heard the train, police said.

The Amtrak train, which was travelling from Miami to New York, was stopped for nearly five hours because of the accident.
