NEW YORK (AFP) - Ataui Deng, a Sudanese model who has worked with some of the world's top designers, has gone missing in New York, police said on Monday.

Deng, 22, is 1.85m tall and weighs 50kg, and was last seen on Aug 6 near Times Square. Police said Deng, also known as Ataui Deng-Hopkins, was missing.

"We put out a description and we're looking for her at this time," a statement said.

Known for her cropped hair and dark complexion, Deng has been on the catwalk for designers such as Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Catherine Malandrino, Sophie Theallet as well as Desigual and Bibhu Mohapatra.

She went to the United States with her family in 2004 and has lived in New York City since 2008.
