A dramatic video has emerged of a plane performing an emergency landing on a busy expressway in New Jersey on Sunday (July 12).

The video, released by Stafford Township Police, showed the pilot of the small-engine plane making an emergency landing on a grass patch on the expressway after its engine lost power. 

Since the police posted the video on its Facebook page on Sunday, it has received over 150,000 views and more than 2,900 shares. 

The skydiving plane was carrying students from Skydive East Coast Sky Diving School, the police said in a Facebook post.

The plane was wobbling from side to side while it struggled to descent and trying to avoid hitting the cars.

The police said a skydiving instructor was treated for a cut on his arm but no other injuries were reported. They added that no vehicles were involved in the incident.

The police are investigating the case.
