Sweepee Rambo, the winner of the World's Ugliest Dog Contest, being shown off by its jubilant owner Jason Wurtz at the trophy presentation on Friday.

The annual competition at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, saw participants from around the world compete for the top prize.

Sweepee Rambo, a blind 17-year-old chihuahua/Chinese crested mix, was a gift from Mr Wurtz to his former wife, but he wound up with the dog after the couple's divorce.

This was its first win at its third time in the competition. Other competitors included Rascal Deux, the winner of two Ugly Dog contests with its "Einstein hair", and Himisaboo, a part-dachshund whose hairstyle has been compared to US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
