Individual fatally shot by police at Ohio airport

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Police shot and killed an individual at the airport in the Ohio city of Columbus on Wednesday in circumstances that were not immediately clear.

On its Twitter account, Port Columbus International Airport said the city's bomb squad "is processing the victim's vehicle" after the shooting in the parking lot of the departure area.

"Police officers responded to a situation at departures curb about 1pm (2am on Thursday Singapore time), shots were fired, victim is deceased. No other injuries," it reported.

The victim's identity and other details were not immediately available.

The incident caused no flight disruptions out of Port Columbus, which handles about 150 non-stop flights a day to 34 destinations on 15 airlines.

Columbus, population 825,000, is Ohio's state capital and largest city.
