Thousands gathered at New York City's Rockefeller Plaza on Wednesday for the 85th Rockefeller Centre Christmas Tree light-up ceremony amid tight security. The annual event is a worldwide symbol of the holidays in New York City. Celebrities joined Mayor Bill DeBlasio to kick off the event. The tree will remain lit and on display on the plaza between West 48th and 51st streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues until Jan 7.
