There was a feast of Singapore food at the Singapore Embassy in Washington, DC on Sunday when Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee joined more than 500 Singaporeans based in the United States for an early National Day celebration. There was a cake-cutting ceremony, and snatches of Singlish could be heard as guests tucked into Singapore favourites such as chicken rice, satay and mee siam. PM Lee is on an official visit to the US, where he will be hosted to a state dinner by President Barack Obama today.
