Italian firemen carrying a golden retriever named Romeo after it was pulled from the rubble of a house in the tiny village of San Lorenzo a Flaviano on Sept 2, more than nine days after Italy's devastating earthquake on Aug 24. The image was taken from a video filmed and released by the Vigili del Fuoco (Italian Firefighters) press office on Sept 3. Touching footage taken by the firemen shows the dog - which had been presumed dead - being lifted out from under a pile of masonry that is all that remains of its owners' house. A calm-looking Romeo then slurps its first drink of water in more than 230 hours from a bottle held by one of the firemen.
