ISTANBUL (REUTERS) - CCTV footage has been released by Turkish authorities showing the moment when a bomb ripped through a bus in Turkey, killing 14 soldiers and wounding 56.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan blamed Kurdish militants for the attack, which took place in the Turkish city of Kayseri on Saturday (Dec 17).

In the footage a car bomb appears to go off next to the bus, which was carrying off-duty military personnel, sending debris flying.

Traffic immediately ground to a halt as smoke and dust covered the road, while survivors of the blast scrambled out of the doors and windows of the bus to safety.

The blast comes a week after deadly twin bombings targeted police in Istanbul and may further infuriate a public smarting from multiple attacks by Islamic and Kurdish militants this year, and a failed coup in July.
