JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli police shot and wounded a man, believed to be an Arab, on Wednesday after he stabbed two people on a Tel Aviv bus, police spokesman Luba Samri said.

"First reports indicate that two people were stabbed, their condition is not known... apparently by a member of a minority," she wrote in a statement, using the usual police term for an Arab.

She said the attacker was shot in the leg and arrested.
