A notorious terrorist known for performing brutal executions and for his massive frame has been captured by the Syrian Army, according to footage posted online.

Nicknamed The Bulldozer, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) extremist is topless and lying at the back of a truck in videos posted online.

His hands are tied behind his back and he cries out in pain at one point in a video uploaded to YouTube on Sunday (May 29).

A few people crowd around the truck taking videos or photos with their mobile phones.

The real identity of The Bulldozer is not known, but he has been featured in videos performing terrifying acts, such as beheadings.

He usually dresses in all black and covers his face, but is recognisable due to his extraordinary size.

He is estimated to weigh between 120kg and 150kg.

The extremist got his nickname from toting a huge machine gun weighing about 50kg that is usually mounted on a tripod, tank or even aircraft.

He is also known for wielding a massive sword which he swipes down onto the necks of his victims.

One teenager was apparently executed for listening to Western pop music.

The feared executioner was also accused of chopping off the hand and foot of a 14-year-old boy.

The boy, known as Omar, told British TV outlet Channel 4 that his limbs were chopped off in public and put in front of him so he could see them.

It was punishment for helping the Free Syrian Army, and refusing to join ISIS, he said.

The extremist's gruesome acts are said to have taken place in the ISIS-held Iraqi city of Mosul, Yemen and Syria.
