Iraqi Kurdish security forces have arrested an 11-year-old boy after removing an explosive belt strapped to his body.

KIRKUK (REUTERS) - It was a scene that could have turned deadly.

Kurdish police found and removed a suicide vest from an 11-year-old boy in Kirkuk near a Shi'ite mosque.

Local television showed two officers holding the boy down, while a third removed what turned out to be two kilograms of TNT.

The boy's capture followed a deadly attack in Turkey that officials say was carried out by a 12 to 14-year-old child.

Officials blame ISIS in that attack, while it's unclear who supplied the boy with the suicide bomb vest in this latest attempt.
