BEIRUT (AFP) - A bomb attack hit a Lebanese security checkpoint on the main highway linking Beirut to Damascus on Friday, a security source told AFP.

"A bomb attack... targeted a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces in the Dahr al-Baydar area," east of Beirut, the source said.

There was no immediate word on any casualties.
