Kerry to press China to dispel territorial 'ambiguity'

ELMENDORF (AFP) - US Secretary of State John Kerry will press top Chinese leaders this week to spell out their long-standing territorial claims in the South and East China Sea, US officials said Wednesday.

Mr Kerry will meet Friday in Beijing with China's leaders to discuss rising tensions over rival claims to the disputed areas and stress that "ambiguity about claims generates uncertainty and raises risk," the official told reporters travelling with him.
