French police arrest four in dismembered female journalist case

PARIS (AFP) - French police on Tuesday detained four people for questioning in connection with the mysterious death of a 33-year-old female TV journalist whose dismembered body was found in Paris, a source close to the investigation said.

The decaying torso of Caroline Corvalan, who had worked as a freelance journalist for French public television, was found at the end of September in a service duct by workers at a construction site.

Investigators last week identified someone close to the victim as a person of interest, but it was unclear whether that person was among the four arrested.

Numerous theories have circulated about the case, including the possibility of a robbery gone wrong, but investigators have been focusing on Corvalan's private life.

Corvalan, originally from the south of France, was said to have suffered from personal problems.
