BOGOTA (AFP) - A small plane crashed on Sunday (Oct 18) into a bakery in a crowded area of Colombia's capital, killing four people and injuring several others, authorities said.

The Beechcraft 60 crash rocked the Engativa neighbourhood, not far from El Dorado international airport, just after the plane had taken off for a nearby airfield early morning.

All passengers on the aircraft and the pilot were killed, said a statement from the mayor's office.

"So far there have been seven people injured who are being treated in hospital," the statement added.

Firefighters closed off the area and were searching for any possible missing people.
