ITALY (REUTERS) - The fishing boat carrying hundreds of migrants from North Africa that sank more than a year ago has been raised by the Italian navy.

The bodies of many of those on board are thought to be still inside the 30m hull. Up to 800 people lost their lives. Only 28 are known to have survived.

The wreck is being taken to a refrigerated storage area where the remains of the victims inside can be recovered and work started to identify them.
