Macron on visit to India

French President Emmanuel Macron arrives in India for a three-day visit today. Mr Macron will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow for talks before the French leader attends a solar power summit on Sunday designed to showcase India and France's commitment to fighting climate change, which both leaders have made a priority.


Awards for infocomm professionals

The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) will be holding the SCS IT Leader Awards 2018 ceremony and gala dinner today, with Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim giving an opening address. The annual awards, which recognise infocomm and digital media professionals for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the industry, will be presenting a special Outstanding Achievement Award this year.


Bank of Japan policy meeting

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) will meet today on its interest rate policy. It is expected to keep rates unchanged despite the recent data swings and market volatility. Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said last Friday that the BOJ will consider a rollback in pump-priming some time next year, and hinted at ending the negative interest rate policy and raising the long-term yield target in one to two years.
