Tillerson in for hard time in Russia

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will meet his counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Russia today. The Russian minister is expected to give him a hard time over the US decision to drop 59 Tomahawk missiles on an airbase in Syria. Russia, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's ally in his country's long-running civil war, has called the US attack a dangerous violation of international law.

Hospice ward for dementia patients

Singapore's first hospice ward dedicated to people with advanced dementia officially opens today.

Assisi Hospice will offer palliative care to dementia patients. Previously, those with advanced dementia mostly lived and died at home or in nursing homes. The hospice also offers palliative care to critically ill children.

Retail sales data for Feb out today

Data on Singapore's retail sales for February will be released today, giving a snapshot of consumption activity in the Republic during the month.

Economists see this as one indicator of consumer sentiment and economic health. Retail sales rose 2 per cent year on year in January, with food and beverage outlets and supermarkets racking up double-digit growth.
