MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday (Dec 13) he is ready to meet US President-elect Donald Trump "at any moment".

But it would be better for Mr Trump to form his administration first, Mr Putin said in an interview to Japanese media.

"We are ready at any moment. There are no problems from our side," Mr Putin said, according to an interview transcript released by the Kremlin.

"It's widely known that the elected president of the United States has publicly called for the normalisation of the Russian-American relationship. We cannot but support this," Mr Putin said.

But he also added that a meeting between the two leaders was more likely after Mr Trump's January inauguration.
