The 18-year-old - a health and social care student - was a young woman who wanted to help people. Friends said she was one of the first people rushed to hospital after the attack, and died with her mother at her bedside.

A music fan, she had met Ariana Grande as well as other performers, with whom she had posted many pictures on social media.

"So excited to see u tomorrow," she had tweeted to the star the day before the concert.

Her former school, Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy, near Leyland in Lancashire, gathered students to pray for her and remember her life. "Georgina was a lovely young student who was very popular with her peers and the staff, and always made the most of the opportunities she had at the school," it said, adding that she would be dearly missed by her two brothers.

Bolton Wanderers Football Club also posted condolences on its website, as Georgina had played in its under-11 girls' team.

Emilie de Ravin, who plays Belle on the Once Upon A Time fantasy TV series , shared a photo she took alongside Georgina and other cast members, and said on social media that Georgina was a "beautiful soul" who gave her "the most lovely letter" at a fan gathering. The actress expressed "anger and sadness towards the people involved in planing and carrying out the attack".

Some of Georgina friends have started a crowdfunding effort to help her family with the cost of her funeral.
