German police detain 17-year-old Syrian over plot to conduct suicide attack in Berlin

BERLIN (Reuters) - German police on Tuesday (May 30) detained a 17-year-old Syrian suspected of planning a suicide attack in Berlin, a spokesman for the interior ministry of the neighbouring state of Brandenburg said.

The suspect was arrested in the Uckermark region north-east of Berlin, Brandenburg police said in a tweet.

It is understood that the authorities were tipped off about the suspect's intent by his family members.
