Two luxury sports cars with a combined worth of £250,000 (S$450,000) were seriously damaged in a collision in South Yorkshire, England, on Sunday (May 20).

The crash involving a Ferrari and a Porsche occurred at a roundabout in the Tinsley suburb of Sheffield at around 7.55pm (Monday, 2.55am Singapore time), reported the BBC.

According to South Yorkshire Police, the impact of the collision caused the red Porsche to roll over and land on its back wheels, added the BBC report.

The Porsche driver, a 26-year-old man, had minor injuries from the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ferrari was not at the scene when police officers arrived.

Photos posted online of the accident showed both rear wheels of the Porsche detached from the vehicle, while the Ferrari suffered severe damage to its right bonnet.

British newspaper Metro reported that eyewitnesses saw both drivers fleeing the scene of the accident immediately after it happened.

However, it added that one driver returned to the wreckage "some time later".

Police are appealing for eyewitnesses to come forward with information regarding the "manner of driving prior to the collision", said the BBC.
