A specimen of the newly discovered Australian peacock spider, Maratus bubo, shows off its colourful abdomen.

In addition to their vivid hues, the males of this species participate in energetic dancing courtship rituals, which can include a lot of vigorous waving, shaking and tapping.

The arachnids may be spectacular, but they are tiny.
