It's a picture creating panda-monium on the Internet.

Illustrator Gergely Dudas, who goes by the pen name Dudolf, last week posted a drawing to his Facebook page, challenging readers to spot a panda in an army of snowmen.

The Where's Wally-style cartoon was liked by 42,000 people and shared 100,000 times within days, said the Daily Mail with many struggling to find the panda at all.

The illustrator planted a few red herrings such as colourful scarves and hats, and the snowmen's facial features, made from coal, also make it difficult to spot the panda's black-rimmed eyes.

Some seemed to doubt that the panda was in there at all.

Jon Beauvais wrote: "I found a dragon, 2 slippers, a can of pop and no panda. Nice try!"

Gary Pearsall insisted: "There ain't no panda in there!"

Darren Fox wrote: "Been looking for 15 mins still can't find it lol."

Linda Gougler said: "I found it, the panda! Took longer than I thought, BUT found it!!!!!!"

However, hundreds of others claimed to have found the elusive animal in as little as five seconds.

Said William PJ Kulich: "This is the only festive thing I've enjoyed this year so far. Good stuff.'"

The Hungarian illustrator often posts cartoons and mind-bending puzzles for his followers, such as a cat hidden in amongst dozens of owls.

Gergely told i100: "The popularity of the 'panda' picture amazed me, I still can't believe it, but it makes me really happy! Glad to see how people like something I made."
