AUSTIN, TEXAS (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continued efforts to court African American voters saying "Give Donald Trump a chance", at a rally in Austin, Texas.

He also pledged to be "The greatest job's president that God ever created".

Mr Trump faces a challenge when it comes to African American support. Hillary Clinton leads Trump by 91 per cent to 3 per cent among African American voters and by 70 per cent to 25 per cent among Hispanics in an average of July and August Washington Post-ABC polls.

Overall, Mrs Clinton leads Mr Trump by 12 percentage points among likely voters, her strongest showing this month, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Tuesday.

The Aug 18-22 poll showed that 45 per cent of voters supported Clinton, while 33 per cent backed Trump ahead of the Nov 8 election.
