Magnitude 5.5 quake strikes northern Argentina: USGS

BUENOS AIRES (REUTERS) - An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck northern Argentina on Thursday (Jan 23) close to the town of El Hoyo, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake, located 16km west of the town, was very deep, some 560.4km below the surface, and unlikely to cause any damage.
