WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US Vice President-elect Mike Pence traveled to Washington on Wednesday (Nov 16), where he and his wife, Karen, were hosted for lunch by Vice-President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, at their official residence, the US Naval Observatory.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Mr Biden said, "It went very, very well. I hope they enjoy this home as much as Jill and I have."

He also said that "no administration is ready on day one" but that "everything will be in good hands".

Mr Pence, who is currently head of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team, expressed his gratitude to the Bidens for hosting them.

"Most importantly I think they've made real progress in talking Mrs Pence into another dog," he joked.
