CANADA (REUTERS) - Celebrity guests, including Canadian-American actor Michael J. Fox, arrived at the White House state dinner for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday (March 10).

The dinner caps a visit by Mr Trudeau that signals an end to a period of frosty relations between Washington and Ottawa.

Fox attended the dinner with his wife Tracy Pollan and told reporters he thought the Canadian leader was "cool".

Also attending the dinner were Canadian actors Ryan Reynolds, star of the hit superhero film Deadpool, who attended with his wife, actor Blake Lively, as well as Canadian-American comedian Mike Myers.

In talks earlier in the day, Mr Obama and Mr Trudeau agreed to tackle climate change and strive to settle a long-lasting trade dispute over Canadian softwood lumber exports.
