CAFEZAL DO SUL, BRAZIL (REUTERS) - At least 20 people were killed on Monday (Oct 31) when a bus carrying patients to a hospital collided with a truck in the city of Cafezal do Sul in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, local fire officials said.
The bus, which was carrying about 30 people, collided with a milk transport truck on Brazil's PR-323 highway at around 6.30am (4.30pm Singapore time).
The truck driver and 19 bus passengers were killed, firefighters from the nearby city of Umuarama said.
The bus belonged to the health ministry of the city of Altonia and was carrying patients and their helpers to a hospital in Umuarama about 90km away.
Authorities from Umuarama said the cause of the accident was still under investigation.
