CARACAS - How far would you go to look like your favourite comic book character?

For a Venezuelan man, it meant undergoing drastic facial surgery - and cutting off part of his nose - in a bid to resemble Red Skull, Captain America's arch-nemesis in the Marvel universe.

Henry Damon, 37, also had several subdermal implants inserted into his forehead, tattooed his eyeballs black and added red and black face tattoos.

The father of two even refers to himself as Red Skull and plans to have more procedures done, including dyeing his face red and having silicone implants on more parts of his face.

Damon's surgeon, medical school drop-out Emilio Gonzalez, told The Daily Mail that his patient was a "physically and intellectually healthy person", as well as an "excellent son, husband and father, who has an extreme taste for body modification".

Damon's friend revealed that he had loved comic books since he was a child and had always dreamed of being the character.

Red Skull first appeared in the Captain America series of comics in 1941 as a Nazi agent. Actor Hugo Weaving played the character in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger.
